RTD on Building DRR Network |
CESDR Subcenter for DRR-CCA held its 1st Round Table Discussion on Building DRR Networks on Sept. 26, 2015 at the EDC Room, 13th Floor, Henry Sy Building. The resource speakers were Engr. Dexter Lo, Mr. Uriel Correos and Dr. Jerry Velasquez.
Rationale:
The CESDR Subcenter on
DRR-CCA has its main objective which is to serve as a resource to support
Philippine local governments and the State by way of mainstreaming, and by taking a system’s
view in developing, designing and
implementing disaster risk management and climate change adaptation with
a result of contributing to resilience
and sustainability of communities, their built and natural environments. To
realize this objective, the subcenter has to build networking with other research
institutions and local government units to promote dialogue and cooperation
among the stakeholders and thus enhance the resilience of communities through
research that is adaptable to vulnerable communities.
Objectives:
- To learn lessons from active local research centers on DRR-CCA and thus enhance the management and implementation of research at the subcenter,
- To explore collaborative or cooperative researches and activities with other DRR research centers so that the impact of DRR researches becomes more effective in a regional or national level,
- To understand the issues and problems related to DRR in local government units (LGU) and thus propose DRR activities that can enhance the resilience in the LGU and their communities, and
- To learn about international organizations on DRR and explore the possibility of networking globally.
